Vakréne

Vakréne is a duo consisting of Isabella Østenby Vesti and Aina Helgeland Davidsen composing music all by themselves to fit their instruments. They only perform music composed by themselves and have the idea of being a classical artist/group on same level as any pop artist in todays society.
At Nordic Piccolo Festival 2023 Vakréne will have their official debut as duo, premiering for the world a three movement piece by Aina for sopranino saxophone and piccolo flute.
The name Vakréne is a combination of their first names. Isabella means beautiful, which is “vakker” in Norwegian. Aina means both the only one, which is “den eneste ene” in Norwegian/Danish (it also means mirror, however, they have not chosen that combination). Making a combination between Vakker, and Ene to Vakréne.

Å overleve tanken // Surviving the thought

Å overleve tanken / Surviving the thought is a project created together and in collaborations with the painter Kirkerød Malerier to support youth in Norway in need of help with mental health. The project were performed and shown 10th-12th of September 2021, marking The World Suicide Prevention Day, where most of the income from the project wias donated to Mental Helse & Mental Helse Ungdom.

During these three days there were 3 live performances with live music and painting, presenting the music and the art. If you didn’t make it to the artshow you can show support by buying the music on Itunes or streaming it on Spotify, some of the income from this will go directly to MHU, or keep updated here as they are working on a website where you can purchase the paintings. If you would like to donate money for producing the music at USB you can donate here.

Å Overleve Tanken has been supported by AASS Bryggeri with their lovely locations and Drammen Kommune. We have been very grateful, and it was a wonderful collection for the organizations.

All of the music and paintings have been based on anonymous peoples opinions on what mental health is and what relations they have to it individually. From that, Maja and Aina has created lovely music and art for the donations.

Thanks for all of the support!

ERRATIO

ERRATIO is a project launched by Ingvild Vaagsether (choreographer and dancer) & Aina Helgeland Davidsen (saxophonist and composer). The concept is created on the grounds of creating an experience together with the audience. An experience where the audience get to decide what the musician(s) and dancer(s) get to improvise over. The performers get selected themes that the audience get to play with, however, the performers never get to choose the themes themselves, that is something that is decided by a draw by the audience left up to the coincidence or faith if you want. ERRATIO is created to inspire an artistic experience for everyone that is interchangeable for every concert/show. Nothing will ever be alike and it will all be up to coincidence and inspiration, and improvisation between the artists and the audience. It is created in two versions so far, one for children and one for adults. The one for children is so far done with throwing a dice to decide what the improvisation should include, and the one for the adults is performed through showing of cards. They are of course angled in different directions with seperate goals, since the children often need more entertainment than maybe artistic challenge. The adult version is more directed towards research of the game between audience and artists making and creating art.

Follow our instagram account for news

ERRATIO creates a whole new level of artistic possibilities through dance and music. Creating a new space for cultural similarity’s and differences being visually accessible, and in constant movement from each performance. Through improvisation in music and movement in dance the performers react to each other, and are giving new impulses for each they receive. All based on their professional expertise, experience and cultural differences. The project combines  backgrounds, professional experiences and expertise making a 100% visual, auditive and life-like product. What is quite unique is the including of the audience by making them decide the form of the music through throwing a dice and leaving them in wonderment of what they actually have decided. This is just one of the «tasks» the audience are given, and the dancers create even bigger opportunities to combine the audience. In this way all of their cultures and backgrounds play a role in the expression the performances.
Through interaction they will develop a common artistic language through movements and music in constant movement.

Current stages of previous performance:
- Stavanger Kammermusikkfestival 2020 (4 performances)
- Oslo Jazzdancefestival 2020

More about Aina

RAKLEVERK

It started as a masterproject at The Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus Spring 2016 as an initiative from Aina. RAKLEVERK consists of three musicians, Esben Lynge Jørgensen (laptop, electronics), Daniel Robinson (piano, composition, jazz) and Aina Helgeland Davidsen (saxophone, classical). The three of them are playing together with a mission of creating an unique combination of sounds and music. They are combinging elements of jazz, electronics and classical music to create experiences for people – instead of focusing on any genre. It’s important that all of the three aspects of genres gets to improvise and show through the music. RAKLEVERK are playing with limits, exploring each others worlds, and want the audience to come and listen for an experience they cannot find anywhere else.
The program is written by Daniel Robinson, and includes Aina playing 4 saxophones at the same time, singing and playing through one instrument, electronical colourful beats and inspiring sounds, manipulating sound work and mesmerizing jazz improvisations. The word RAKLEVERK itself means something which is thrown together and away, kind of a mess, which was suiting for this unique combination of sounds, limits, genres and personality’s behind the music that the group is playing with.

The Music is very different from concert to concert depending on the improvisations and the audience’s participation. Several of the numbers are affected and in need of small volunteering from the audience. This is to create extra tension, excitement around how the songs will sound (both for the musicians and the audience), and to have the audience “on their toes”. It gives the trio a lot of room for creativity in spur of the moment, and leaves a little element of surprise and the audience wondering.
Currently RAKLEVERK is working on some more music and their goal is to get to play a tour summer 2019. For recording the plan is set on fall 2019. The currently recorded numbers are together With previous member of the trio; Pia Christensen. She resigned her spot summer 2017, and shortly after Esben took over. The recordings are not mastered, and they are live.

Daniel Robinson (1990, DK) studied Bachelor in piano at the jazz department and master in composition at The Royal Academy of Music, and finished June 2018. He is searching for limits, Daniel goes without compromise for following his artistic ideals – both as a composer and pianist. In 2013 her recieved Bendixlegatet for MGK-students special honors. Daniel has for several years been a part of the Jazzimprintet world of Aarhus. He as published together with his own trio the album «Stjernenes Knæ» and together with Johannes Gammelgaards ABC «Kærligheden».
